Dramatic Skies of Nebraska

Just look at the most dramatic, gorgeous skies of NE, some right off our own deck!

This is the Mutual of Omaha building downtown during the Olympic Swimming Trials.  This was an interactive video "on" the building.  Cool, cool, cool!!!

Flooding in NE 6-11

Nebraska....the good life that's very "wet" indeed!!  

 
  Dad and I wanted to see for ourselves how bad the flooding was, so we flew north from Omaha to Sioux City, IA. Here are just a glimpse of what we saw:

 The Missouri River is massively over flowing its banks and flooding all the farmland and towns along its borders.

 If you enlarge this pic, you can see the farm that is totally under water.  Its really surreal to see ALL this water in the Nebraska.  You just stare at it and don't know what to say : {

 This is our power plant that, of course, had to be shut down.

 We drove down to KC for Phil's graduation walk and had to be detoured since I-29 was flooded [a direct route from Omaha to KC].  We went through Nebraska City and several other very small towns [1 1/2 hours out of our way].  This is how the hotels, gas stations and restaraunts sand bagged around their establishments to try to save them.  They were ALL closed!

 The Missouri River was slowly creeping up on to the highway.  Going down to KC, they had only 2 lanes of the highway open and the very next day going back home, we literally had to drive through the water at one point.  Scarry!!

Phil's Graduation 6-11

So our youngest child-man has graduated from The International Art Institute of Kansas City with his Culinary degree.....he's a Chef!! WOOOOHOOOO : } And boy can he cook!

We are so happy that he now has a foundation and can move toward success!

So proud of you, son!
